May 13, 2012 They say the 99% has no concrete demands. To them I present this International Manifesto. I am completely behind all of these demands. There is a wrld-wide awakening and I am proud to be part of it.

April 30, 2012 Another great article Welcome to the asylum by Chris Hedges.

April 23, 2012 Nice article: The globalization of hollow politics by Chris Hedges
And I just found out that horse-slaughter became legal againin the USA. - Attached to a spending bill, quietly approved by Congress and signed by the president. Here is a beutiful quote from the article:

"The emptying of content in political discourse in an age as precarious and volatile as ours will have very dangerous consequences. The longer the political elite—whether in Washington or Paris, whether socialist or right-wing, whether Democrat or Republican—ignore the breakdown of globalization, refuse to respond rationally to the climate crisis and continue to serve the iron tyranny of global finance, the more it will shred the possibility of political consensus, erode the effectiveness of our political institutions and empower right-wing extremists. The discontent sweeping the planet is born out of the paralysis of traditional political institutions."

April 12, 2012 I hope this article is correct about an anti-eviction movement building in Chicago.

April 10, 2012 What we need is single payer for all Americans - nice article

April 6, 2012 I made it! My picture is in the news! Daily Kos article about protest to save CTA.

February 17, 2012 Check at 18:17 Sit down and shut up - the new anti-protest ordinance in Chicago.

October 14, 2011 The revolution will not be televised but it is live streamed! Tomorrow is a big day. Occupy Wall Street will go global. I'll join the brave people Occupying Chicago.

October 14, 2011 What Occupy Wall Street need to demand: By Bernie Sanders and by Matt Taibbi.

October 11, 2011 - Occupy Wall Street is awesome!
Check out Occupy Chicago. This is history in the making! And here is a live stream of all Occupy demonstrations. You people are awesome! We are the 99 percent! YOU are the 99 percent! I will be joining these brave people this Saturday, October 15, as part of a world-wide pro-democracy event. Join it if you can! http://15october.net

October 8, 2011
I went to a peace march organized by www.chicagomassaction.org. It was great! At the end, we joined the Occupy Chicago group. I had a great time. Next big action: May 2012, when both NATO and G8 summits come to Chicago. We will show up in great numbers and show them that we are sick of the wars and poverty.

October 6, 2011 - Now that Elizabeth Warren might run for senate, I digged up this wonderful lecture of hers on the coming collapse of the middle class. This lecture took place in 2007. Food for thought.

September 6, 2011 - Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence by Martin Luther King
This speech is sadly, surprisingly relevant today.

August 14, 2011 - The economic elite of the USA. As I am reading this, I think two other links match the mood: The American Dream by George Carlin and Democrats Are the New Republicans by Bill Maher.

August 6, 2011 - The day the middle class died by Michael Moore

August 5, 2011 - The debt deal threatens Social Security by Russ Feingold

July 31, 2011 - The Great Undoing by John Cory
"Under the guise of a manufactured debt crisis that has little to do with reality, the ideological intransigence of Republican Tea Party extremists, aided and abetted by a centrist-right Democratic Party and a Democratic president obsessed with bipartisanship and compromise, working people are being sacrificed upon the altar of greed and bound over in indentured servitude to the corporate masters of America and their wholly-owned subsidiary, the US government."

July 22, 2011 - The global class war is on
A great interview with economist Michael Hudson.

June 3, 2011 - US foreign policy today
The entire episode of today's Democracy Now! is a sad commentary on the stupid and heartless things our government does abroad. We must change our ways.

May 31, 2011 - Dr. Gabor Mate on the stress-disease connection, addiction, attention deficit disorder and the destruction of American childhood.

May 22, 2011 - Finnland's success in education
This is an old article but I find it more and more relevant as I see the current "reform" efforts to "transform" our education system.

April 25, 2011 - The People's Budget
The media completely ignores the People's Budget, braught to you by the largest congressional caucus, the Progressive Caucus. I think this budget is better than (of course) Ryan's budget or Obama's. It is so rational and so good, it will not even be mentioned by the mainstream media.

April 13, 2011 - Obama's budget speech
I find this speech important and remarkable. Could be his first re-election campaign speech. He finally draws a line in the sand. He finally invokes morality, and he finally promises to end the Bush tax cuts for the rich. I hope I'll see those things!

March 8, 2011 Michael Moore's speech in Wisconsin.

March 4, 2011 Another environment activist is going to jail. For details, see the interview with Tim DeChristopher after a jury of his peers (?) found him guilty.

February 26, 2011 - I went to the downtown rally in Chicago to show solidarity with the great Wisconsinites. Senator Rick Durbin came and spoke. It was cool! Really, it was very cold too, I don't know how people in Wisconsin do it for weeks now, I had frozen toes after two hours!

February 22, 2011 - A great interview with Matt Taibbi, author of Why isn't Wall Street in jail? An article in Rolling Stone. Here is his earlier article from November 10 on the foreclosure crisis.
While we are at it, here he is on the Colbert Report on November 16, 2006. I love this interview, he is very cute when vulnerable....

February 18, 2011 - Union busting and protests in Wisconsin
Tea Party Governor Walker proposed ina minor budget bill to strip public sector workers of their collective bargaining rights. He may just have awaken a sleeping giant, the American working class. Here is an article on this from the World Socialist Website.

November 7, 2010 - The War Counter
This is a great website, but one amazing feature is in its upper left corner - counting the cost of the wars. Check it out! If you bother to read the rest, you'll see that in some cases, Democrats forced out Green candidates from the midterm election. Sad.....

October 30, 2010     Rally to restore sanity

October 20, 2010 - We should have a moratorium on foreclosures.
A great interview with Joseph Stiglitz Nobel Prize winner economist about foreclosures, stimulus, and the big banks.

October 1, 2010
My heart goes out for the people of Ecuador and his cool, cool president Rafael Correra. Here is an interview with him showing what a brave man he is. I hope this coup will fail. It failed in Venezuela but not in Honduras. I really hope the Ecuadorean people will prevail. The slow social revolution in South America is one of the very few things that give me hope for the future of humankind.

August 14, 2010
I like this article about our greatest problem - how the truth has lost credibility in the public discourse. With it we also lost logic and reason.

August 3, 2010
This is an insightful interview with Andew Bacevich, a retired army colonel and historian, about the Afghan war. He just wrote a book titled Washington Rules: America’s Path to Permanent War.

July 26, 2010
To me, Julian Assange is a hero. His website, Wikileaks just released the war.... Surprise, surprise, it's ugly. When do we end the wars? Here's the reporting on Democracy now!

Interview on Democracy Now!     Interview on NPR (January 11, 2010)     Book's web site
another interview on NPR

July 29, 2009
I think that the 287 G program is our collective shame and a great threat to democracy today in America. Why is Obama stepping up this program instead of stopping it?
